Are Coffee Pods From Folgers The Best Product For You?

When a company as big as Folgers starts making them, coffee pods have truly come of age. Even if they\’re not your favorite brand, if you drink coffee, you know the name Folgers. Let\’s look at how Folgers Coffee Pods compare to some other brands, including those that are quite a bit more popular, even if the companies themselves are smaller. We\’ll also check out any other single cup Folgers coffees that are out there.

Who Is Folgers?

Folgers has been around a while. Founded in 1850 in San Francisco, California, it doesn\’t get much more American than Folgers. From the onset, the purpose was making coffee more convenient by roasting, grounding, and putting it in labeled tins before distribution. As they have been in the coffee industry for over a decade and a half, it makes perfect sense that Folgers would be involved in coffee pods early on. Proctor and Gamble owned Folgers for almost fifty years, and the company was acquired in 2008 by The J M Smucker company.

Will Folgers Work With My Pod Coffee Maker?

Folgers coffee pods will, most likely, work with your coffee pod machine. According to the manufacturer, Folgers Pods work with the Home Cafe system. Although the name is trademarked by Bunn, the Home Cafe system basically stands for generic coffee pods. Be careful what you order, though. Some of the names that Folgers uses can be a bit confusing. For pods that will be compatible with pretty much all of the coffee pod machines out there, make sure you buy Folgers Pods, or that the Home Cafe name is on there somewhere.

Folgers And Other Single Cup Coffees

Folgers Singles is the only other single cup coffee that Folgers makes. They are most definitely not intended to be used with coffee pod makers. They don\’t fit coffee pod machines at all, and are really a lot more like tea bags with coffee in them than anything. If you do not want, or cannot afford a coffee pod brewer, though, Singles are an excellent way to get Folgers coffee by the cup. Since Folgers has already gotten behind the Home Cafe name, they do not, and probably will not make K-Cups or T-Discs of any kind. Although Folgers would certainly not endorse this use, though, some have claimed to have discovered a way that they can force these coffee pods into working with the Keurig machines.

How Does Folgers Compare To Other Coffee Pods?

Price wise, Folgers Coffee Pods are fairly expensive, but they get good reviews. Folgers is known for having fairly rich coffee, so the transition to a single serve format just increases that strength. They don\’t make any cappuccino, espresso, or any other flavored coffees in coffee pod format, though, so only look for Folgers if you want just basic or decaffeinated coffee pods.
