You could be disagreeing with this statement based on many of the stories you’ve heard in the past. I will agree that there are a lot of strange dishes that they create, but they think the same thing about lots of the dishes that we make. One thing that you must know is that they create a few of the most great tasting vegetable dishes that you’re going to ever have. My personal favorite is a dish called Vegetable Biryani. The Biryani dish originated in North India and was mostly reserved for use during festivals. The vegetables of this dish are marinated in a yogurt-based marinade.
Step One: Firstly, you are required to cook Capsicum cubes, French Beans (cut into small pieces), Carrot cubes, Potato cubes, Peas and Cauliflower cubes. In a pan boil these vegetables with salt for about 9 mins.Once the vegetables are cooked, drain the water and keep it separately in a large bowl. Cook the Mushrooms and add in with the vegetables. Add celery into the vegetables.
2nd step: Make a mixture of ginger, garlic, curry powder, turmeric and unsweetened yogurt.You should take care that all the ingredients are mixed together properly. With a spoon add this mixture into the vegetable. Let the vegetable marinate for atleast 2 1/2 hours. This dish needs few minutes for marination, so it can’t be made quickly.
Step Three: Take your butter and heat it in a heavy skillet. You ought to add the sliced onions to the skillet and cook them over a medium heat. Carry on cooking the onions for about six min, or until they are soft and golden brown looking. Remove a few of the onions from the pan and reserve them for your garnish. Cook the rice in a large pan of boiling water as you are doing this. Allow the rice to cook for about 8 minutes. Just remember to drain them completely and set them aside for future use.
4th step: During this step you’ll add the marinated veggies to the onions and cook them for about ten minutes. You will then put half of the rice into a two litre casserole dish. Spoon the vegetables on top and cover with the remaining rice. Then cover the dish and let it to cook the biryani in a preheated oven that is set at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Allow the dish to cook for close to twenty-five minutes and pull it from the oven.
Serve the biryani on to a warm serving plate. Your final step will be to garnish the food with the onions you held to the side. Also garnish the dish with cilantro. You have now made yourself a Vegetable Biryani dish! Enjoy your taste of India!!
